Earth Hour 2008

Hello Neighbors:
Please join us as we participate in Earth Hour 2008. Please visit the link below for more information about this event. Additional downloads for businesses and teachers can be found on this page as well. This year, Atlanta is a leading partner for Earth Hour 2008.
http://www.earthhourus.org/

Earth Hour will bring millions of people around the world and across the United States together on Saturday, March 29, 2008 to make a bold statement about climate change. Together they will turn out their lights for one hour—Earth Hour—from 8 to 9 p.m. local time.

While the lights are out, people are encouraged to replace their energy-wasting light bulbs with new, energy-saving compact fluorescents and think about how they can help slow climate change and trim carbon dioxide emissions at home, in their neighborhood and city, and at their workplace.

Daylight Saving Time

Remember to move your clocks forward 1 hour March 9th at 2:00AM. This is also an excellent time to change the batteries in your smoke/carbon monoxide detectors.

A few site updates

I've updated a few things around the site recently:

  1. 2008 Officers are now listed on the Neighborhood Assoc. page.
  2. Egan Park's Code Officer, Margaret DeBerry, has been added to our Contact form and Important Numbers page.
  3. Meeting Minutes are now only accessible to neighbors who are logged in.
  4. Jan 2008 Meeting Minutes have been posted.
  5. Our Contact form has been updated with the new 2008 Officers (select the appropriate category on the form to contact a specific officer).
  6. A new (private) forum has been created for the newly formed Safety Committee.
  7. The Map page has been updated to display the embedded Google map of our area. The map lacks some of the newest restaurants, etc. If you have the exact address and name of business you'd like me to add to the map, please post it in the comments below, and I'll add it as soon as I get the chance.

Please let me know if I've missed any updates. Thanks.

Site Updates, New Neighbors, etc

Hello friends -

I've added a few new features to the site that I wanted you to be aware of. :)

Logging In to the Site

If you look in the left column, where it says "Neighbor Login", you should see a slight change... you can now login with either your username OR your email address. A *lot* of folks were emailing me asking for their username because they had forgotten it ... it's just your first & last name smooshed together... :-) ... so I thought it might be handy to have the option of logging in with your email addy too.

Forgot your Password?

If you forget your password, just go here and enter your username or email, and request a new one. Easy :)

Welcome, New Neighbors

I added a new block to the left column on the site.... under "Active Forum Topics" you should see a new area called "Welcome, New Neighbors!"... guess what that is? Yep, a list of the newest neighbors in Egan Park (well, their usernames, anyway). You must be logged into the site to click on their profile. From there, you can click on their "Contact" tab, and send them a friendly "Welcome to Egan Park" email. Fun!

Tips & Hints

Have something you want to sell, or want to give away your crap instead of having a yard sale? List it in the Classifieds forum.

Check out the other forums too, and discuss anything you want. Land Use & Zoning, Local Businesses & Restaurants, Real Estate, Recipes, Schools, Friends of the Park, etc. (And if you are logged in, there are a couple of private forums that only us EP neighbors can view).

Don't forget the Phone Directory. (You must be logged in to view the directory).

Need to send an email to the entire EP neighborhood (but don't have the latest list of email addresses in your address book)? Login to the site, and go to "Email all Neighbors."

Want to update your Profile? Log in, and click on "My account." Then click the "Edit" tab. Update your address info, add a bio, change your icon, etc.

Hopes this helps answer some of the questions I've received! Take care!
