Forum Rules

These forums have been established to promote a community atmosphere amongst residents. The opinions of our neighbors are integral to the existence and ongoing improvement of our community. It is for this reason that we encourage residents to participate in, and even lead discussions at these forums. That being said, there are some fundamental guidelines that we ask members to respect while utilizing this resource.

The purpose of these guidelines is not to limit the topics of discussion, nor is it to squelch and censor unflattering remarks, but rather to maintain a vibrant and tolerant community.

BE RESPECTFUL

  1. Think twice, post once.
  2. Be polite. If you repeatedly hurt people or start conflict, you are not being polite.
  3. Understand that there will be residents with opinions that oppose yours.
  4. Don't post to the forums in anger. Think before you type.
  5. You can debate a point without getting personal.
  6. If you have negative comments about someone, keep them to yourself.

BE CONSTRUCTIVE WITH YOUR FEEDBACK

  1. Local businesses are your neighbors too - treat them with respect.
  2. If you have negative feedback about a business to share, share it with the owner first. Feel free to post a review that contains negative feedback, but remember you are talking about real people not just a business.
  3. Any claims that you make should be backed up with facts. Hearsay is dangerous.
  4. If you are on the receiving end of a negative comment, this is your chance to turn it all around. Write a thoughtful post in response. People will listen.

OUR FORUM IS FOR ALL AGES

  1. No profanity or mature content allowed.

DON’T SPAM

  1. There is sharing and then there is spamming. Think about the place, context, and time when you post something that is self-promotional.
  2. Unreasonable cross posting is considered spam! Don't post the same message to multiple boards. Posting once is usually sufficient.

VENTING/RANTING

  1. Our forums aren’t a soapbox to vent personal issues. We are a community of people with diverse beliefs, opinions, and backgrounds, so please be respectful, and keep hateful and incendiary comments off of our forums.
  2. Use of any information on this board is done so AT YOUR OWN RISK. While we may at times respond to posts, we make no warrants or claims regarding the validity of any information posted by users on this board nor do we review posts for accuracy of information.

NO PERSONAL INSULTS OR ATTACKS

  1. This site is provided for our users to gather and discuss our strengths, challenges, successes and our community. You are free to disagree with others, but if you condescend to personal abuse or attacks, your post(s) will be deleted. If you are insulted, report the post to a member of the neighborhood executive committee.
  2. Attempting to bait others into a war of words will not be tolerated. Any posts we deem to fall in this category will be deleted. This includes inflammatory comments about vendors and/or other people.

POST IN THE APPROPRIATE FORUM

Please read each forum description before posting to ensure you are posting in the correct forum. Off topic posts will be moved to the correct forum.

PRIVACY

You must respect the privacy of other members and individuals. Do not post personal information (i.e. addresses, phone numbers, or any other information considered private) without the express permission of the individual.

FORUM MODERATION

This board is moderated by the site owner and Egan Park officers. We request that you please be respectful when interacting with our moderating team. Forum moderation (deleting, locking) is a last resort. The Egan Park forum has a 3 strikes policy. Users will only receive 2 warnings. Any incidents beyond this will result in a ban of the user's account. Please follow these guidelines carefully.
